Frequently Asked

Nope! You don’t need a single tool under your belt to get going. We all start somewhere — usually with shaky hands and a YouTube tab open. The trick? Start small, learn as you go, and don’t be afraid to mess up. Mistakes make the best stories (and lessons).

Start simple. You don’t need a garage full of tools to get going. A few basics like a tape measure, drill, and level will get you far—and gradually add as you learn. And if you’re sharing your projects online? Add a tripod and decent lighting. My faves are listed above to keep things simple.

You will. And that’s okay. DIY isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. Every crooked shelf and paint drip is part of the learning curve. The more you try, the more you trust yourself. Confidence isn’t a switch; it’s a muscle

Not even a little. If you’ve got a phone, a bit of light, and something to prop it up with (hi, flexible tripod!), you’re golden. It’s about showing up as you are — not staging a HGTV production.

If you’re brand new, take the Tool Confidence Quiz — it’ll tell you where you’re at and what to focus on. Want a little more structure and guidance? The DIY Kickstart Kit (coming soon!) is like having me in your corner (without me raiding your snack drawer). Join the waitlist here.

I DIY solo all the time, so I know what it takes to stay safe while flying solo. Read your tool manuals (seriously), wear your safety gear, and don’t rush. There’s no DIY badge of honour for accidents. Smart, safe, and steady wins the day — and yes, you can totally do it on your own.
